The electrochemical cell is where the chemical reaction happens by passing electricity through the electrodes. With the potentiostat and selected three electrodes, cyclic voltammetry can be carried out to obtain both oxidation and reduction potentials of the semiconducting materials, i.e. OLED small molecules or OPV polymers. Highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels can thus be calculated from the measurements.
